What does your birthday mean?

Filed under: Uncategorized — by InterstellarLass @ 2:16 pm

Found this on FTS‘ blog.

Your Birthdate: November 30

Your birthday on the 30th day of the month shows individual self-expression is necessary for your happiness.

You tend to have a good way of expressing yourself with words, certainly in a manner that is clear and understandable.

You have a good chance of success in fields requiring skill with words.

You can be very dramatic in your presentation and you may be a good actor or a natural mimic.

You have a vivid imagination that can assist you in becoming a good writer or story-teller.

Strong in your opinions, you always tend to think you are on the right side of an issue.

There may be a tendency to scatter your energies and have a lot of loose ends in your work.

You may have significant artistic talent and be very creative.

Hmmm. I must say that I agree with this for the most part. I don’t personally think I’m very creative, but others tell me I am. And, I’ve been called a Drama Queen a time or two. And, I AM always right…so there.

Find out what your birthday means.

Wildflower Festival Saturday Night

Filed under: Uncategorized — by InterstellarLass @ 9:03 am

Saturday evening wasn’t nearly as eventful as Friday evening, but it was still fun! I actually had a date. Guy asked me out, and I said sure. So, we met and had Indian for dinner. Very nice conversation. He seemed nice and normal. Then we went over to the festival, spread out a blanket on the grass and listened to Cheap Trick. Not exactly a ‘date band’ to be sure, but better than a movie. Managed to make it home by midnight and got some sleep.

I woke up at 5 AM this morning to do a 2 hour run. Got in just over 10 miles. Not too bad for a humid morning. Now it’s time for a shower and a nap! This afternoon I may head back over to the Wildflower festival again. A three day pass was $20…not bad for a weekend’s worth of entertainment!

Wildflower Festival Friday Night

OK, first I got carded for beer and the guy almost fell over when he saw how ‘old’ I was. Then, Starship (featuring Mickey Thomas) was actually really good. Even the songs I didn’t know (the new ones) were good. Plus he kept giving updates on the Mavs game, which was actually kind of cool.

But, the highlight of the evening, of course, was Rick Springfield, heart-throb extraordinaire of the 80’s. For a 55 year old man, he looks GOOD! He rocked and played it up to the ladies. And, then…he came down in the audience. I was up front, and I was right by him when he finally stopped. So, what did I do? I reached over and grabbed his butt of course! YES! I touched Rick Springfield’s butt! I definitely give it an A+. It is a butt that I would grab again given the chance.

I’m Smiling!

Ear to ear! Had a great run last night. Well, except for the sprinting part. Got to run some trail for the first time in awhile and I will be taking my bike to ride those trails soon. (Judy, close your eyes…you didn’t just read that.)

Tonight I’m going to see Rick Springfield at the Wildflower festival. Tomorrow I have a baby shower for one of my good friends, and then I’m going back to Wildflower for Cheap Trick! Can’t stay out too late though, because I have to wake up at 5 AM to run 2 hours on Sunday.

It’s gonna be a great weekend!

Oh, and I got my copy of the ‘Petition for Divorce’ in the mail yesterday. I shed a couple of tears. Then I called my friend Amy, and she helped cheer me up and reinforce me with good thoughts. I love you Amy! I honestly do feel that I truly am happier at this moment than I have been in years. Getting through this is going to suck from time to time, but I have so many good things going for me. I’m having more fun, I have great friends, and I’m looking forward to what each new day will bring. I am loving ME and paying attention to ME and doing what makes ME HAPPY!

Ride of Silence

Filed under: Uncategorized — by InterstellarLass @ 4:19 pm

I will be riding tonight in the Ride of Silence. This ride is to raise awareness of cyclists injured or killed by motorists. Just started last year in Dallas with around 1,000 riders, there are 163 official rides tonight going on all over the US. I’m a new at cycling. I’ve done two road rallys, and at one, there were two accidents, one involving a cyclist being hit head on by a motorist. Fortunately that cyclist was only injured, not killed.

Share the road, ya’ll.

The Dating Game

Filed under: Uncategorized — by InterstellarLass @ 9:21 am

One of my girlfriends was talking about a blind date she had last week. I haven’t ‘dated’ anyone in eleven years, and the prospect is both exciting and terrifying. Yes, I’m not even divorced yet, and I’m already thinking about it. I’m just not a person that likes to be alone. It’s not that I can’t, and I’m having plenty of fun with my friends. All I’m looking for is friendship. After what I’ve been through, the next poor guy will be run through the paces quite well, and will be tested for worthiness. I’ll print up ‘Approved by Inspector’ stickers…

But, how does one ‘date’? I mean, I know how to flirt, that’s the easy part. But the whole ‘progressive relationship’, timing, do I really like him or is it just ‘chemistry’. It’s all very confusing. So, for the benefit of a newly single female and her single friends, what advice do you have?

I’m in the Spotlight!

Filed under: Uncategorized — by InterstellarLass @ 9:53 am

Oh my! My 15 mintutes of fame are here. Thanks FTS! I’d better be extra-interesting this week. Hope I can stand up to the task!

This weekend I had to relax. I’ve been going and going and going and I needed a mental and physical break. Plus my kitchen floor really needed mopping. So, yes, I skipped my tri. At least my running coach will be happy. Sorry if I disappointed you folks…but dangit…I am training for a marathon! That’s got to be worth something.

I drank too much beer at the Byron on Friday, and so Saturday my run didn’t go so well. I was supposed to run for 1:45. I ended up running for 45 minutes, and did at least a half hour or more of walking to the park and back from where I had to stop running. Between heat, beer and tight quads I just couldn’t make it. So, a total of at least 1:15 forward movement. I made a full confession and begged for a pardon from my coach. I repent!

OOOH! And in more exciting news, I also got two new chairs for my den, for free! When D moved out, he took half the furniture from the house too, so my den has been sitting empty except for the bookshelves. My grandparents are real-estate agents and have been sitting on a model house that was furnished. The home-builder moved the furniture out, but left two big rattan chairs with very pretty cushions and told my grandparents they could have them if they wanted them. So, they called me! YAY! How fortunate am I to get some very nice, FREE furniture….

Now, if anyone’s got a TV…

Oh, and here’s a ‘Help Wanted’ notice for you. I officially joined up on a 12-person relay to run a 195-mile trail race in Colorado in August. It’s called ‘Get Your Ass over the Pass‘. One of the team members dropped out, so we are in need of another runner. If you’re interested in joining up, let me know and I’ll pass along your info to my team captain. You’d have to run 3 legs, so around 20 miles total. Preferrably you would live in or around the Dallas area, but definitely have to be a ‘Flatlander’ (i.e. live in low elevation) to be eligible for our team.

Goin’ to The Byron

Filed under: Uncategorized — by InterstellarLass @ 9:03 am

Today, I get to slack off from work and hang out with my clients. Well, I don’t know how good the hanging out with the clients part will be, but the slacking off from work part will be great.

I’m going to the Byron Nelson golf tournament today. I’m sure to see lots of women with silicon (this is Dallas after all), wearing shoes that aren’t fit for a golf course, too much make-up, and too little clothing.

And I’ll get to make fun of every single one of them.

I picked a winner

OK, latest in the D-divorce saga.

He goes to meet with the lawyer yesterday. I knew he was going. By 10 (PM), he hadn’t called me yet to give me any details. So, I called him.

He was studying (he has a final tonight). I asked him what the lawyer said. Below is a summary of the conversation, but I will bold the direct quotes.

“Well, I got a big packet of information that we have to go through. We have to agree on stuff about the kids, education, medical, visitation, you know. And then, once I file, we wait 60 days. Then we have to go to court I guess. And once we go to court, it takes like two minutes, piece of cake, and we’re done.

OMG! Mother F***ER! Eleven friggen years, and in two minutes, piece of cake, we’re done.

So, of course, I got a bit upset. And then he said “Look, I don’t have time to do this tonight. I have to study for my final.”. Fine. You say, to my face (well, over the phone) that in two minutes our entire relationship will be over, piece of cake, and you can’t take five minutes to grovel!

At least he’s buying me a new hot-water heater.

when the days crawl by

Filed under: Uncategorized — by InterstellarLass @ 1:53 pm

The only thing I have to look forward to at work lately is the end of the day. Various things have affected my projects, and I barely have anything to do. Much less what I was hired to do. So, I do busy work, and I’m bored out of my skull. So, all day long I think about training, what races to do next, look for races to do…

And so, the days crawl by. It’s only Wednesday. OK, granted it’s after lunch on Wednesday (had a yummy chicken burrito from On the Border today), so the week is officially half over. But, the minutes are ticking by. Maybe I should re-arrange each piece of paper in each of my files. I’ve already cleaned out my inbox today. That took about two minutes.
