Fair’s Fair

Filed under: Elle & Zed — by InterstellarLass @ 10:57 am

She/He got to do this or that, it’s not fair.
Elle and Zed’s favorite phrase has got to be “It’s not fair”. My response? “The Fair is in October” or “Life isn’t fair” or “So what?”. This morning was a prime example. Wednesday night is their dad’s night, and they pack a bag. Each has a rolling suitcase. One yellow, one red. For one-nighters, they pack in the same bag. And it’s always a fight over which bag they use.

This morning, I tell them to pack. Elle immediately pipes up We’re using my bag!. The Zed retorts No, we’re using my bag!. This goes back and forth a couple of times, and then, when I can’t stands no more, I say Cut it out!. They both stop and stare at me. I look at them.

Eeny meeny miney mo, catch a tiger by his toe. If he hollers, make him pay, fifty dollars every day. My momma says to pick the very best one and you are not it.

The rhyme ends on Elle. I look at Zed. Use your bag Zed. Elle starts to protest. That’s it! No more!. She gets smart and shuts up.

The ulitmate peace-maker I am. And using such mature methods to come about a resolution. I’m so proud of me.

Sidenote: This morning I found out that my lottery application to run the NYC Marathon was accepted. Heaven help me.

I’m not feeling too confident, but we’ll just have to see how that goes.
