Tuesday Stew

Filed under: Rants & Opinions — by InterstellarLass @ 9:14 pm

Welcome back to the Tuesday Stew!

My Suspcisions Confirmed: As creepy as he was, from moment one, I seriously doubted that Karr had anything to do with JonBenet’s death. The sensational media got all hot and bothered for this guy, and now it’s all back to where it started. No answers. One thing I get sick of is the constant repeating of news. Every five minutes, the story is thrown in our face, with no significant updates and speculation galore. And now, fffft. The Boulder DA has more egg on their face, and seem more incompetent than ever. And the person that is responsible, well, it seems there will be no justice.

Slow down! Last Tuesday night it started to rain while I was at the gym. I had just 6 minutes left on the elliptical, and it started to pour. Since we haven’t had more than a sneeze of rain practically all summer, the streets were very slick with oil. I’m sitting at a stoplight, and just as I’m about to come through, a guy barely manages to stop at the cross light and ends up half way in my lane. Two seconds, and he would have hit me! And then a Corvette comes whipping through traffic behind me, on a slick, curvy street, with “performance” tires. Slow down!

Little Starz: Tonight while I was at the gym, I caught an episode of Wife Swap. I’ve seen bits and pieces of this show before, but it’s not something I watch. Tonight’s moms were Lauren and Patty. Of course part of the schtick of the show is that the mom’s are polar opposites. And, as always, they were. Patty seemed pretty normal. Mom from Wisconsin, five kids, they hunt, fish, wrestle. But Lauren. Lauren’s a mover and a shaker. And that’s fine. But she’s turning her daughters, ages 7 & 10, into little Starz. She works on their ‘careers’, her 7-year old is ultra-fashionable (she loved a chain-mail looking tank top that was marked $7,600), the kids stay up until 10:30 at night or later, and the parents don’t care if the kids are late for school…the perfect outfit is more important! Mom did the show for publicity. Oh, and dad? A third child. He plays all day and night, never sees his kids, and ‘works’ for his father-in-law – when he makes it in the office.

I’m not the perfect mom by any means, but the whole no-rules, no-discipline, buy-on-sight fashionista parenting isn’t really my style. And, unlike Patty, my kids have chores they’re expected to do. And no wrestling on the living room floor. Lauren might be able to take me to some swank clubs, but I think I’d rather hang out with Patty and go hunt a bear.

  1. I love your Tuesday Stew!! I totally agree with the whole JoneBenet’s death news stuff lately. This morning I read the news and I was completely expecting sometime to be hearing news that he didn’t do it. Its soo sensentionalized.

  2. Funny. I just watched that episode of Wife Swap. Good use of my non-blogging time, I tell you.

What a jerk that third child was. Sad, since his wife was actually pretty likeable. How can a smart woman put up with a guy like that?

  3. I so knew that guy is crazy but did not hurt JonBenet.

When the first snow hits, people always drive too fast. HELLO! You have lived in the snowbelt for how many years. SLOW DOWN!

OMG! Even if I had money I would not buy my kids stuff like that….ANd, my kids have chores etc to do. They also have good manners.

Hope your back is better. Your room looks good. YOu and hot carpenter guy must be so happy to have your own personal space.

  4. I wasn’t certain either way about Karr, but he sure seemed to fit the part.

When I lived in Arizona people lost their minds when it rained and just could not drive.

  5. I didnt do Tuesday Stew today, sorry. was too tired to bitch, believe it or not. doubtless, it will pile up.
You’re right about Karr. At least California will hold him on other charges.

  6. I still don’t understand why the Ramesy case gets so much more attention than any other case? Sadly, similar crimes occur nearly everyday, and nobody says anything.

  7. That whole thing with JMK was just crazy! I can’t believe they brought him all the way with no real proof he was the guy.

Still though, it was interesting to watch. Barring Hannibal Lecter, I don’t think they could have found a creepier baby-killer-looking kind of guy. I’m glad they’re sending him to CA for the kiddie porn charges.

  8. I watch Wife Swap every so often. I always get annoyed with other parent’s parenting. Hello! I’m the best parent ever! Haven’t you heard? 🙂 Total joke, but I am a tad judgemental. Have you ever watched super nanny? Oh my God! Some of those people could use a clue.

  9. I watched that last night, oh what a piece of work! That husband was such a jerk to poor Patty. ggrrrrrrrrrr

  10. We have wife swap over here too, and I swear, some of them shouldn’t have kids. The worst ones are when the kids never see the parents. I appreciate people have to work, and when I have kids, I’ll have to work too, but i will make sure that I spend time with my kids bonding with them, otherwise, whats the point?

  11. I have no idea about the JonBenet thing…I guess the news didn’t make it over here!

As for driving in the wet, it rains all the time here and people still drive like complete idiots!

I can’t stand Wife Swap, the show started here about 6years ago and it drives me insane, yes I don’t want kids so probably shouldn’t comment but some of those Mothers need stringing up!

  12. I’m working on my own stew. Don’t know if I will post. It’s a pretty hot rant. Warren Jeffs was just arrested. FBI top ten. The media keeps calling him a mormon and he never was, never. He’s a violent oppressive criminal and I can’t wait to see the fresh hell that is created for him. If he could be lashed for each tear that fell because of him, I’d be ok with that. There’d be nothing left.

On the other thing, yep, I’m a Patty fan. Lauren is raising sociopaths that won’t care a with about anyone and will be incapable of feeling anything that isn’t attached to how much someone spends on them.

    Rant worthy?

  13. I’m with you on Karr. The media of course were falling all over themselves and now they look like fools too. But you know…I do think this guy killed somebody’s child. Just not JonBenet. I think he confessed to her murder because he thought it would make him famous. Serial criminals are often meglamaniacs. The guy is tres creepy.

  14. Yea, Karr had his 15 mins of fame, send him back to Asia where he can perp more little kids.

Um, yea the drivers in these parts aren’t much better when it rains or God forbid when it snows. Just pedal to the metal no matter what.

Wife Swap…I think this is the show I’ve seen…it can get pretty crazy when they mix-n-match complete opposites. It gets pretty hilarious!

  15. As far as Karr goes, you nailed it Lass: fffft.
What a freakshow he is though, huh?
Bet he has a few Kubrick-like skeletons in his closet.
