Thursday Thirteen, ed. xxi

Thirteen Thoughts from InterstellarLass

1. I need new tires.

2. Even with the slightest amount of iciniess on the road, I was sliding all over the road on Monday.

3. So yesterday when we had ‘snow’, Nick wouldn’t let me drive.

4. So I didn’t go to my gym classes last night. Shame on me.

5. Since late last Saturday, I don’t think the temperature has been above 33 or 34 here. This is not normal. I love it.

6. I hope my flowerbeds survive. I think my poor pansies are going to be toast though. They’ve bounced back after a day or two of ice/cold, but not 5 days of it.

7. I’m super anxious. I’ve got something in the hopper I haven’t talked about, and am waiting to hear.

8. We watched two movies yesterday. Bright Young Things and Starting Over. They were both pretty good.

9. At the end of Starting Over, we saw the name ‘Kevin Bacon’ in the credits. I confirmed on IMDB that it was indeed him. Nick and I then spent the next 15 minutes scanning through the film to finally spot him. The guy really has been in everything.

10. This weekend (if the weather holds), Nick and I are going to see the Body Worlds exhibit. I know this has been quite controversial in the news, but I think it will be fascinating. I’m sure photos won’t be allowed, but I’ll do my best to report back.

11. Next week Heroes starts back up. I’m super jazzed. This has been such a good show with a great story.

12. I made my hotel reservations this week for NYC. You’d think I’d be jumping the gun, but no, there was a lot that had no availability for that weekend. I found something in the Chelsea area for a very good price.

13. I put my new martini shaker too good use last night. Amen for martinis.

  1. This is a neat idea for a TT! I’m always trying to think of something to write, and this kind of random/story list is great.

    Good luck with #7!

    Have fun in NYC.

My TT’s up….Thirteen Albums from the 80s I have hanging on my wall.

  2. YOU MUST GET NEW TIRES!

Can’t wait to hear what is in the works.

Body Works looks fascinating. Can’t wait to hear more about it. Would you take the kids?

I would like to see Heros from the beginning. what I have seen, I have loved.

I don’t know if I would take the kids until I see it for myself. Zed I think I could take, but Elle is questionable. I don’t know how she would react. She’s very smart, but I don’t know if she’s ready for the ‘scientific’ piece of life. We did, however, have a conversation about cremation yesterday and how it’s different from burying the body. She seemed to do ok with that one.

  3. Sounds like we may live in the same neck of the woods…I live in the midwest and we’re under an arctic blast.

I can’t wait until Heroes returns! Hooray!

    My 13 are up.

Heck, I think the entire US is under a cold, wet blanket!

  4. Great. So Texas and Los Angeles get snow and we don’t.

By the way, I just now noticed the little pop-up bubble preview things on your links. That’s pretty cool.

    That’s a new WP feature. 🙂 I like it.

  5. I love IMDB.com! I hope your plants survive. It hasn’t been quite that cold here, but I wish it would. I would like to see some snow.

  6. Train of thought TTs are my fave – you’ve made me want to do another like that in the next few weeks. Yay martinis and yay Kevin Bacon (he must have been about the same age there as when he was on _Guiding Light_ 🙂 I just rented _Bright Young Things_ a few weeks ago – I liked it a lot better than the book, which I couldn’t get into at all for some reason and later felt guilty about. wacky.

If you liked Bright Young Things then I think you’d also enjoy Peter’s Friends. It features Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, Kenneth Branaugh, and Emma Thompson, among others.

  7. I can’t believe the weather you’re having! It’s crazy! I would definitely be getting new tires, and staying off the road until all the other crazy people figure out how to drive in it. 😉

I’ll be waiting for the news, when are you gonna spill? (I’m so impatient!)

My husband went to see BodyWorld and took my older son–they both found it really interesting.

Love the look of your blog!

  10. I don’t know where exactly you live in Tx, but I have some bad memories of working at DFW in three different ice storms. You shouldn’t get out in that even if you had new tires. Snow is one thing, but ice is crazy.

But, you had your new martini shaker, so, …

  11. I want a martini. I tried the cosmo martini recently and I loved it! I might get brave and try other flavors, but I’m pretty hooked on the cosmo martini. Yum!

  12. It’s been unusually cold here, too. I’m starting to tire of it. My bones are cold.

  13. Hi Lass! I love that you’re worried about your pansies and it makes me wish I had flowerbeds. When it gets warmer I want to have some flower pots on my balcony. You will like Chelsea! My TT is up (interview tips – ooh la la).

  17. I’m very glad I’m not in your neck of the woods right now…snow and ice are my worst nightmare! I’ll stick with the wind and rain storms we’ve been having!
