Things that make you go “Hmmmm…”

Filed under: It's Me, Lass — by InterstellarLass @ 10:21 pm

Last night Nick and I went to see Black Snake Moan. I thought this was a GREAT movie. I was very impressed with Sam Jackson. I’ve always liked him. He’s a bad motherfucker. Yes he is. Christina Ricci, I’m on the fence over her. There are some things I’ve seen her in that I really like. Others, not so much. She’s an odd creature. And she lost a LOT of weight for this movie. I hope she gains it back, because I think she’s one of those that sets a good example for a normal bodyweight rather than an unhealthy looking thin.

Sam Jackson looks awesome in this movie. A real bluesman. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first. The trailers and previews didn’t lead to a lot. And during the movie, it wasn’t easy to see where it was going. Which was a good thing. I don’t like predictable movies. Other than some crappy coughing, Christina Ricci was good in this movie. I have to say I liked it. And I couldn’t figure out if Sam Jackson played the guitar in the movie or if it was a ‘stunt guitar player’. The other thing I really liked was Sam Jackson’s beard. Don’t know why that’s the thing I picked out, but it is.

The thing that really made me go “Hmmmm…” was the cop on a Segway. In.The.Theater. Not outside the theater. Right there inside, next to the concession stand. What the heck did he need that for inside the theater? Wonder if they have parking for it at the local Krispy Kreme.

And then, on the way out the door, was the usher that was singing. To himself. Some song I couldn’t recognize, but he was singing it loud and proud. Strange.

I also must be having some weird solar/moon/galaxy thing going on. I’ve nearly been run over in my car at least 10 times this week. The last time tonight was by a Sentra and an old Corolla. They were overtaking each other and driving dangerously. And my kids were in the car! Crazy people. Whatever strange cosmic forces are going on, I hope they end soon. I don’t like crazy drivers.

Happy Weekend all. It’ll be a quiet weekend round here. Saturday should be nice weather!

  1. Glad to hear you liked the movie, I’m dying to see it but I’m not sure what my wife would think.

I LOVE Sam Jackson, and I love that Ricci isn’t afraid to try very different roles instead of being the same predictable character. You’re right that sometimes she’s better than others, but I wonder how much of that is driven by script / director as much as she herself?

  2. I don’t think I’ve even seen a preview for that movie. I will have to look into that! Perhaps it’s some strange latent full moon left over craziness. Segways are THE most retarded thing ever developed. It’s just one more thing to increase the obesity in this country. You have two legs, use them!!

  3. Bet that’s the last time that cop rats out his partner to Internal Affairs. Seeing him on that thing I thought “you know, I bet I could out run the law”.

The thing that pissed me off was the guy who kept laughing. How the hell did I get stuck next to the guy who laughed during Shindler’s List. Guess Wild Hogs was sold out, shudder the thought.

  4. There are lots of planetary things happening. We are in Grand Fire Trine. Lots of energy: http://www.thecosmicpath.com/index2.htm
    If you are so inclined.

I could not tell from the trailers if this was going to be good or not. Glad you liked the movie.

  7. I’ve always liked Samuel L, too. Although I must say, Snakes On A Plane took him down a couple of notches in my mind.

  8. Glad to hear (read) that it was good from somebody I trust. The local movie reviewer guy is known for being the only guy in America to give a good review for a craptastic movie.

  9. I haven’t seen that movie… perhaps I should go check it out. 🙂

Lots of weird things have been happening here too. I’ve noticed more today than any other day people popping out from between parked vehicles while I’m driving… mmmm….

  10. I’ve never even heard of “Black Snake Moan”, but I do live a sheltered life.

There’s a cashier at the grocery store I go to that just sings the whole time she’s scanning groceries. Weirds me out.

  13. How naked did Ricci get? :p

All women love beards, that’s why I have mine 😛

The cop was there, because I told them you were on the way and might cause trouble as only you can.

  14. Oooh, I want to see Black Snake Moan to but you’re the first person “I know” who has seen it. I’m glad you gave it a thumbs up. I’ll let you know what I think. I’ve always thought Christina Ricci is odd too but in a good way.
