We had plenty to offer up tonight. More forecast for later tonight and tomorrow. NOT a good thing when you have a brand new car. On the way home there was pea-sized hail for a brief period. I was freaking out. FREAKING. As in cussing at the top of my lungs and having a slight panick attack. I mean, I just signed the papers today and called to update my insurance and toll tag. BAH! For about 20 minutes on the toll road, it was car-just-in-front-of-you visability. Can you say whitenucklegrip? Then, when I exited and was sitting at the light, I saw a lightning hit. It was well far away, across the other freeway that crosses the tollroad in fact. But it must have hit a power sub-station or something. Because there was a giant blue glow that lit up the entire sky. Yikes! Thankfully Zed got home from school about 10 minutes before the rain started. And the rain let up just as I was getting Elle from school. Everyone made it home, and Pacifica made it safely into the garage. Nick laughed at me when he saw me inpecting the hood. What!?! There was pea-sized hail! For at least a full minute!
On Sunday night, Nick and I watched Stranger Than Fiction. I don’t think this movie did very well at the box office (at least I don’t remember it being out very long), and I can’t figure out why. Nick and I thought it was very clever and very funny. And Nick really doesn’t like Will Farrell. And Emma Thompson is very funny too. If you’re looking for a good flick to rent, I can give this one a thumbs up.
This weekend the kids are going to SeaWorld. With their dad. I’m not 100% happy about it. But I’m glad they’re getting to go. Elle has been very sensitive lately, and I gather that her dad isn’t spending too much time with them during their visits. In fact, I gather that he’s either working or studying, and not making time for them. Which really upsets me. So, I hope they have fun. And spend some good time together. They’d better. Elle is missing a soccer-skills session and 2 soccer games, and Zed is missing a basketball game.
Oh, and speaking of, the Sporting Overlords have just released the practice schedule for the Spring basketball season (the week practices start by the way). 4-5 pm? WTF? Either Nick or I would have to leave work at 3 pm to get him to practice. We pay enough for them to play AND practice, and it shouldn’t be at a time when over half your team can’t attend. Grrr. Our coach is going to try to get it changed, but I happen to know that they’ve ‘oversold’ the number of teams, and with K-9 teams practicing (half-court!) M-Th nights only, I’m not holding out hopes. I may be looking into a kids’ taxi service. (I’ve seen a flyer for one.) How bad would that be? Or car-pooling. But I think there’s only 1 mom on the team that doesn’t have an outside-the-home job. *sigh*
I would be FREAKING out alos and not just about the car. I don’t know how coaches expect kids to get anywhere during work hours. Drives me crazy and I have flexibilty.

Why are some things hard to accomodate at decent times which would suit all?

Y’all have the craziest weather ever down there. We’ve been having some really warm days and are expected to get some t-storms tomorrow. Glad the new ride is safe and sound. We’ll have to add the movie to our queue. Always looking for new material.
So, if we come down will you be our official tour guides???

Gotta love those soccer schedules. When I worked full time, I had to rely on other moms to do the picking up and such, and it was the guiltiest couple of seasons ever. I’m really thankful I don’t have to work outside the home now. Beth is a fierce soccer playah!

My wife would have done the exact same thing. 😉
Glad your new wheels found safe haven.
